In all honesty, I have no idea where to post this, but the English speaking section seemed to be the most helpful candidate in my opinion...
Anyway, Recently, I've been advertising my city (Margate) a bit... actually, a lot. I'll go from city to city asking for visits, and I tend to visit in return. Yesterday I spent about an hour and a half going from city to city, perhaps covering 200 different ones. and then, I had no new views. I was absolutely perplexed that not a single person would come. Is that not strange? So I decided to investigate a bit... I record most of the names of the cities so that I can return the favor and say thanks, good to visit in the future, etc. So I went back to these cities I visited, not long after I posted, and for some strange reason, my bulletin posts weren't there! They're there when I post them, but then I leave the page, come back, and *poof* it's gone! Why does this continue to happen? I am extremely frustrated for wasting my time on all that advertising when none of my ads actually show up! HELP please!

You could post it in the general help section
For your problem, a lot a myminicity players encounter it. If your messages vanishes, it can be due to :
1) Your message is too long
2) there are insults or else in your message (I don't think so )
3) There is an URL in your message. For exemple, if you want to ask for visiting your city, don't write the URL of your city, but just "please visit margate", and it will be OK.
4) I also encountered some problems with bulletins and I wasn't in the preceding cases... I didn't understand why I had this problem... I just tried to post very short messages, and then a little longuer etc... Maybe it is a problem with your IP, but I can't help you more for the moment, this still a problem for us
However, if you want to exchange visits, I can advice you to make it on this forum : it is partially devoted to visit exchange between members, so just go into others members topics, and click your city

| Well my messages are definately short enough, "Visit Margate, and I'll be sure to return the favor. =]" usually. sometimes I'll tack on a "+ ind" if necessary. I NEVER insult in my messages. haha. I don't really have any reason to. Everyone's really nice... No URLs... I don't have an IP problem that I'm aware of... see, the strange thing is, for the first few days, I would advertise, and everyone would just FLOCK to it, I mean, 300 a day... (I've only been around for 4) and now it won't do anything at all and I'm bringing in about 40 per day if I'm lucky. I don't know why the problem has suddenly presented itself, but thank you for the help. I'll try posting just "Margate" and see how that does. =\ |

Damn, this problem is really borring, juste try to post very short messages and see. If you can't post any message, just... wait and hope the problem will be solved by itself...
Bood luck, if I have any idea, I wille tell you You are welcome to exchange visits on this forum

Now, I know exactly what is the problem with news bulletin on myminicity : you can't post the same message more than one time
If you want to post a lot of messages on several minicity, you have to change at least one word or your bulletin will be deleted ! I tried to post the same message 12 hours later than the first one, and it has been deleted, 12 hours is not enougth ! So I don't know how long the messages are recorded, a little less than 24h I'm sure of it, but more than 12h...
Conclusion : To avoid messages vanishing, I advice you :
- To verify you don't put URL inside the message (they are not accepted). If you want to give your minicity link, just tell "visit createmycity", instead of "visit http://createmycity.myminicity.com"
- To be sure there are no insults
- To prepare a lot of different messages if you want to "spam" myminicity news bulletin, and change just a character or a word between two messages, for exemple add "!!" at then end, or change a word etc., and the message will not be deleted After about 24h, you can use the same messages again.
- If in spite of that you still have problems, that means you posted too many bulletins with this IP and just have to wait 24 hours, or change your IP adress and it will work again
I hope it will answer this recurrent question

I've found that using unique messages helps, but doesn't completely solve the problem.
Sometimes that stops working for me too, and I just have to wait 8-12 hours before I can leave any sort of message anywhere. It's very frustrating.

as I said, there also seems to be a maximum number of bulletins for an IP adress. Try to change your IP and it should work again...

Thanks, I missed that part. Unfortunately, I have comcast broadband and no router, so I can't easily change my IP. Guess I'll just have to wait it out as per usual.

Hmmm weird I posted just the same messages on December 31th and it worked ... also unique messages (e.g. including the visited city name) may not work every time ...

There are 2 factors for myminicity bulletin post problems : unique messages AND IP adress. If even unique message are deleted, it means that you must change your IP adress !

| This problem has not been resolved. I've been wondering why I hit up 300 people a day with 30 results. I tried unique messages. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I can't change my IP address. |

So how many people can I visit daily with the same IP address? I like to be friendly and reply to everybody that visits, but you are suggesting that I keep my list short? |

Got it! It seemed to work at mine. Unique messages went through up to 30 or so (I didn't count exactly, so only assumption). Seeing my comment rejected, then I changed my IP address, reconnecting my ISP, then it worked again.

Hi, nice to meet you.
I suppose every user may know now about vanishing, so leaving no comment doesn't look like mean, specially if you could leave a comment once, better once a week, hopefully ... (btw I think I visited your town and left a message at least once, but I haven't seen you in my town Toyohama, Japan. Just curious if you visited mine).

Please use the "edit" function instead of posting 3 messages... This problem is resolved in the sense that we know why bulletin vanishes and how to palliate this problem. If you can't change your IP, your problem comes from here, and you just have to wait, no other way... Or use a web proxy to use another IP adress.

Exactly, you got it, unique messages + changing IP are the clue
